We now offer an exciting leadership opportunity as Associate Director for the Process Science team within Manufacturing Science & Technology, at Sweden Biomanufacturing Center (SBC) located in Södertälje
Business Area
Manufacturing Science & Technology (MS&T) at SBC is responsible for Tech transfer of new products into SBC as well as Product Maintenance. We ensure reliable and flexible formulation, filling, visual inspection, device assembly, bulk and final packaging of late stage clinical and commercial products. MS&T also provides expert technical support for AstraZeneca’s commercial products. MS&T works closely with other teams and functions at SBC and around our global network.
As part of the mentioned deliverables MS&T plays a key strategic role for future of the site. To deliver on this strategy, MS&T consists of two technical groups with one of these being focused on Drug Product, the Process Science team.
What you will do
As Associate Director Process Science you will lead, coach and develop a team of subject matter experts in our key processes, formulation, filling and visual inspection as well as in product knowledge.
The scope of the Process Science team is responsibility for scientific aspects of commercial operations for new product introductions and tech transfers of late stage clinical and on-market drug products into the facility. Process Science is responsible for the Product Maintenance teams at SBC, and as such provide scientific support for manufacturing of established products including improvement projects, supplier changes, deviations and complaints management. The Process Science group works cross-functionally at site and interacts with the global MS&T/Global Tech Ops within Biologics operations as well as with R&D, Regulatory, Quality and other global functions.
In addition to leading your team, you will drive the tactical and strategic agenda in the drug product space. You can act as project sponsor and/or member of project steering groups within your area of responsibility. You will also be part of the MS&T leadership team.
The position includes responsibility for personnel, budget, SHE and securing that work is performed according to GMP and other applicable laws and regulations.
Essential Requirement
- MSc (or equivalent) in Biotechnology, Chemistry, Pharmacy or related area
- At least 5 years of experience of biopharma/pharma manufacturing and GMP and of late-stage product process development in an industrial setting
- Proven leadership and coaching skills, applied in managing and developing a team
- Experience of Tech transfers and working across global functions
- Understanding of Lean principles and practices
- Fluent in Swedish and English, both written and spoken
Desired requirements
- Experience of aseptic manufacturing
- Ability to provide relevant scientific advice and input in areas such as: final bulk formulation, single use fluid pathway technology, primary containers, filling and lyophilization process, and/or filled drug product visual inspection
- Knowledge of relevant regulatory frameworks governing manufacturing of aseptic parenteral products and combination products
- Knowledge and understanding of all aspects of product life cycle management
