Global Finance Services (GFS) is at the heart of the AZ Finance function. We are accountable to the AZ Group for the design and delivery of high quality, simple to operate transactional finance processes which, combined with exceptional business analysis and insight, enable our customers to focus on AZ’s strategic priorities.
About the Team:
Our team supports financial processes for Global Functions in AstraZeneca (IT, Enabling, Central Operations) during month-end close and planning cycles. We focus primarily on human costs, other operating expenses (opex) and capital expenditures (capex). As an intern in our team, you will mainly collaborate with our analysts who support complex functions. You will participate in various activities and gain insight into our tasks. We are currently looking for an intern to support opex activities.
Your core accountabilities will include:
- Month End Closing (MEC) - cost analysis, posting Journal Entries (accruals, reclasses), issuing Intercompany invoices
- Financial Planning & Analysis - planning tool usage, uploading forecasts, preparing analysis and explanations, result commentaries
- Reporting – supporting analysts with financial reports preparation and driving process improvements
Essential for the role:
- Willingness to work and develop in finance, especially FP&A
- Understand the basics of finance (DR/CR, Journal Entries, GLs, BS, PNL, etc.)
- Team-player with good communication skills
- Ability to work well in and across diverse global teams (cooperation with people from different cultures and at different levels of management)
- Good knowledge of English (both verbal and written)
- Good Excel skills (pivot tables, formulas, i.e. vlookup, sumifs)
- Accuracy, attention to details, patience, drawing fast conclusions
The internship will last 12 months.
Please remember that we work in a hybrid scheme, be prepared to work partially office based (minimum 3 days per week).
