What you’ll do
The Business Insights (BI) Manager is responsible for preparing data-driven insights to track performance, optimize effectiveness, and predict business outcomes. This role involves partnering with various teams within the organization to proactively identify opportunities and deliver insights that enhance decision-making at Alexion. The BI Manager will analyze and interpret trends or patterns, preparing ongoing reports and data visualizations to effectively communicate data stories within the defined project scope. The tools utilized for these tasks include SQL, Excel, PowerPoint, PowerBI, and Anaplan.

This role is a 12-month contract role, part time (3 day per week) role to be based in Sydney.

Essential for the role

  • Degree in Business, Statistics, Marketing or equivalent

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Power BI, SQL. 

  • Outstanding problem solving, numeric, analytical and critical thinking skills

  • Experience with business modelling, forecasting, process improvement, simplification and automation

  • Previous experience in a Business Insight/Market Analyst Role

  • Advanced knowledge and application of analytics, modeling, and valuation concepts (NPV, ROI, IRR) in the biopharmaceutical industry.

  • Understanding of organizational dynamics and ability to influence at all levels of the organisation.

  • Confidence and ability to present complex information concisely and effectively to all audiences.

  • Strong organization skills, capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Ability to anticipate future commercial trends and to integrate that context into business practices.

  • Track record of effective functional and cross-functional collaboration

  • A drive to learn and master new data management technologies and BI tools


Desirable for the role

  • 5+ years of experience in Business Analytics and/or Financial Analysis

  • Prior experience in rare disease, hematology, oncology

  • Anaplan Model Builder Certified

  • R, Python or other programming languages

  • Experience in market research design

  • Experience using big data technologies to store, process, and analyze large datasets efficiently. (e.g. Hadoop, Hive, HBase, Spark, EMR, etc.)
