Maintenance Technician, BDS

As a Maintenance Technician in our Dublin Bulk Drug Substance facility, you will join a high-performing, empowered shift team that safeguards asset reliability, compliance, and safety across a highly regulated manufacturing environment.
In this role, your hands-on expertise and structured problem-solving will make a visible difference—reducing downtime, strengthening cGMP performance, and enabling new product introductions. You will blend precision maintenance with technical leadership, coordinate service vendors, and shape the standards and training materials that elevate how we work. Accountabilities:- cGMP and EHS compliance: Adhere to SOPs, policies, and cGMP requirements while proactively upholding Environmental, Health and Safety standards.- Planned and corrective maintenance: Execute scheduled and unscheduled maintenance to maximize asset availability and minimize production impact.- Digital maintenance execution: Utilize and maintain Computerised Maintenance Management Systems and other IT tools to plan, record, and analyze work.- Technical documentation and training: Assist in writing and revising maintenance job plans and SOPs; contribute to training materials for new equipment and processes.- Structured troubleshooting: Apply root cause analysis and other problem-solving methods to resolve equipment issues and prevent recurrence.- Quality investigations and CAPA: Support process safety and equipment investigations and drive effective CAPA implementation and verification.- Subject matter expertise: Develop specialisms across multiple process technologies and serve as a trusted technical resource across shifts.- Continuous improvement leadership: Use Lean tools such as Standard Work, 5S, and Root Cause Analysis to drive efficiency, zero defects, and a culture of improvement; act as a champion for cross-functional initiatives.- Start-up and validation support: Support facility and equipment start-up and validation; provide input on installation, commissioning, operation, and troubleshooting to enable the introduction of new products into sustaining operations.- Vendor coordination: Assist in the coordination and scheduling of vendor-performed maintenance activities to ensure quality and timely execution.- Shift operations: Work a rotating shift pattern aligned with business needs, typically including weekends and periodic rotation between day and night shifts.
Essential Skills/Experience:- 5 years + experience performing maintenance on process equipment in a cGMP commercial manufacturing environment, preferably with experience working in a cleanroom environment.- Strong technical, troubleshooting and problem solving skills.- Proficient in use of Microsoft Office and other computer applications i.e. CMMS.- Good interpersonal and communication skills.- Must be knowledgeable of the regulatory and GMP requirements for maintenance activities.- Degree/Diploma and/or technical certification / trade in a mechanical, electrical or related field.
Desirable Skills/Experience:- Familiar with biopharmaceutical equipment and systems such as bioreactors, centrifuges, autoclaves / glass washers, CIP, media/buffer systems, and purification systems is an advantage.
