Our state-of-the art manufacturing facility in Dublin, which we are currently building, will employ a range of digital solutions and automation technologies to drive production efficiencies and ensure compliance.
The Automation Engineer will play a pivotal role in the design, implementation, and operational support of advanced automation systems within the API manufacturing facility. This includes providing technical leadership throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring compliance with cGMP standards, and supporting seamless integration of control platforms, including DeltaV, Siemens S7 PLCs, AMS, PAS-X, and Aveva PI historian.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in the automation industry, specifically within GMP environments, and demonstrate outstanding problem-solving and teamwork skills. This role also requires a deep understanding of process automation platforms and the ability to work effectively with multi-functional teams and external system integrators.
Accountabilities:
Project Support:
Ensure automation systems meet project objectives, regulatory requirements, and production needs
Act as the client’s representative for process automation, providing leadership and serving as the primary point of contact.
Collaborate with internal and external partners to ensure successful implementation of process control systems.
Provide automation expertise to guide design decisions and sustain system reliability.
Ensure new automation systems are delivered in a compliant and qualified state.
Automation Systems:
Ensure reliable and compliant automation system performance to support business objectives:
Collaborate on system integration, data visualisation, Smart Factory initiatives, and New Product Introductions (NPI).
Own and resolve compliance issues, including implementing change controls and investigating deviations/events.
Develop and maintain procedures for system development, maintainability, and compliance
Networking, Personal Development, and Continuous Improvement :
Improve technical expertise, promote knowledge-sharing, and drive operational improvements.
Build and implement an Individual Development Plan to meet technical and personal growth goals.
Effectively engage in site technical networks to share knowledge and champion innovation.
Provide training to personnel on specific automation aspects and systems
Operations Support:
Ensure smooth and reliable automation system operation to support manufacturing.
Provide ongoing support to resolve automation-related issues in manufacturing operations.
Ensure that all software is maintained in a compliant and qualified state.
Collaborate with partners to optimise automation system performance.
Essential Skills/Experience:
- Degree level or equivalent in Engineering.
- Significant experience in the automation industry, supporting GMP environments and applications.
- Direct experience with DeltaV process automation platforms.
- Expertise in integrating DeltaV with OEM systems using industrial protocols.
- Proven experience managing system integrators and overseeing project delivery.
- Comprehensive understanding of cGMP requirements for clinical and commercial manufacturing, including GAMP best practices.
- Experience with change control processes and deviation/event investigations.
Desirable Skills/Experience:
- Experience with DeltaV Mimic, AMS, Siemens S7, PI data historian, SQL, and Kneat e-validation.
- Familiarity with MES integration, particularly PAS-X.
- Knowledge of DeltaV design and recipes to support New Product Introductions (NPI).
- Awareness of API Batch and Continuous Manufacturing concepts.
- Awareness of Manufacturing Master Data Management and high-level data ontologies.
