Introduction to Role

The Workplace Device Services function within the Workplace & Enterprise Services is responsible for the services delivered through the physical devices that employees use daily. This includes service strategy, performance, and availability, along with defining and delivering a world-class catalogue and strategic standards. The services under this role include Laptops, Desktops, Mobile, Print, and Video Conferencing—driving the roadmap to ensure we remain at the forefront of technology innovation to improve employee experience and efficiency. This role is accountable for currency, partner and supplier contract and service delivery management, technology roadmap, and refresh.

This role has lead accountability for the Video Conferencing Services (Microsoft Teams Room, Cisco VC, SmartIT, Digital Signage, and Event technologies) and responsibility for the Workplace Device Services relationship with the vendors across each of these services.

Accountabilities

This role enables our business colleagues to generate value by defining standards, operating governance with guardrails, and driving exploitation.

This role works closely with:

  • Desktop Lifecycle Manager: Ensures a consistent, excellent employee experience across all devices when accessing our teamwork tools.
  • Solutions Integration Team: Delivers complex technical change.
  • Architecture and Engineering Team: Focuses on roadmaps, new services, and pilots.
  • IT Services & Experience Team: Ensures new services and upgrades are introduced effectively to support our business.
  • Cybersecurity and Operations Team: Ensures services are secure and optimized.
  • Global Delivery Team: Ensures timely and on-budget delivery of critical programs, including innovation and lifecycle refresh.
  • Site & FM Leads: Ensuring aligned standards are implemented and budget is appropriately allocated for refresh on sites where IT does not own the budget.

The Video Conferencing Services Role has:

  • Ownership and Accountability: For Video Conferencing services, including budget, contracts, service management, and operational excellence.
  • Governance: Over upgrades and compatibility to ensure seamless business transitions and introduction of new functionalities.
  • Simplification: Ensures technology is current and delivers a great customer experience.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Ensures technologies meet customer needs.
  • Service Improvement: Delivers tech improvements for simplicity and effectiveness.
  • Tech Partnership Management: Keeps AZ at the forefront of tech innovation, benefiting from and shaping partner roadmaps.
  • Team Leadership: Continuously develops a deep technical team.
  • Risk and Compliance: Accountable across services.
  • Business Case Definition: Responsible for defining successful business cases and driving technology transformation.
  • Leadership: Key member of Workplace Device Services Leadership Team ensuring development, growth, and strategy execution.

Reports To

  • Reports to the Workplace & Enterprise Services – Workplace Device Services Senior Director.

Essential Skills/Experience

  • Bachelor’s of Science in an appropriate subject area.
  • Significant IT experience in leading global services.
  • Experience in managing and delivering End User Services with a deep technical and customer experience focus.
  • Experience managing large upgrades and implementations of technology solutions in a global company.
  • Experience managing budgets.
  • Experience with Internal Audit, Risk, and Compliance.

Desirable Skills/Experience

  • Experience in the Biopharmaceutical/Life Sciences industry.
  • Knowledge of SDLC, Agile & Scrum methodologies.
  • Experience managing large global teams.
