This role will be based in Waltham, MA (Boston BioHub) within AstraZeneca’s innovative laboratories where you will follow the science to help drive innovation and advance medicines. Accountabilities:
In this role, you will be a biology leader in the Bioscience, Immunology team focusing on developing therapeutics for treatment of Rheumatological and Gastrointestinal Diseases. You will contribute to the development of new target identification strategies, characterization of immunological pathways in health and disease and drive the development of novel drug candidates. You will also work closely with key leaders in partner functions to ensure project goals are met and create and maintain a productive and collaborative work environment.
Essential Skills/Experience:
- Relevant degree in immunology, or a relevant discipline: Ph.D. with 3+ years of experience (preferentially in pharma/biotech) OR MS with 6+ years of experience, or BS degree with 10+ years and project leadership experience in a relevant field.
- Deep knowledge of adaptive and/or innate immune cell biology is critical, preferentially with strong hands-on experience with human T cells. Treg or CAR-Treg experience is a bonus.
- Expertise in drug discovery projects in the immunology, fibrotic diseases or a closely related field of biology is preferred.
- Expertise in primary human cell culture, multi-color flow cytometry, multiplex cytokine detection and functional assays (proliferation, cytotoxicity, chemotaxis…) and assay development is essential.
- Strong hands-on skills in molecular biology are a plus.
- Initiative to identify and leverage internal and external resources to advance drug discovery efforts.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a dynamic environment, record protocols and experiments detailed and in a timely manner and maintain an excellent laboratory notebook.
- Strong written and oral communication skills and the ability to critically analyze datasets are essential.
Desirable Skills/Experience:
- Experience with 3D in vitro models and in vivo models is a bonus.
