Medical Advisor Rare Disease
Join us at AstraZeneca as a Medical Advisor in our Rare Disease Unit in Lithuania! This role is an exciting opportunity for a medical affair professional with a solid understanding of scientific and therapeutic areas. As a Medical Advisor, you will be responsible for executing medical activity plans for our marketed products and compounds in development. Engaging with external stakeholders you will provide valuable insights to enhance decision making, and translating scientific knowledge into strategies and tactics you will support business success. You will be a valuable member of our local cross-functional team, acting as the expert of clinical and scientific information.
Accountabilities:
- Scientific Leadership & Engagement: Conduct medical/scientific exchange activities to increase comprehension of relevant clinical data
- Insight gathering and translation into actionable strategies: Increase understanding of therapeutic areas and clinical practice to impact strategy
- Stakeholder Engagement: Develop, enhance and maintain external stakeholder engagement
- Clinical Development: Support the scientific programs that explore unmet medical needs in priority disease areas
- Scientific/Subject Matter Expertise: Act as scientific expert in priority disease area(s) for internal stakeholders
- Personal Development: Continually demonstrate development of scientific expertise in disease area(s) of company focus
Essential Skills/Experience:
- Master’s Degree in life sciences or a related discipline
- Customer-facing experience
- Pro-active mindset with respect to engaging external stakeholders (e.g. HCPs)
- Patient-centric thinkingExperience working on cross-functional teams
- Demonstrated expertise in discussing scientific content and context to a variety of audiences
- Established project management ability
- Excellent presentation skills
- Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent knowledge in Lithuanian and English languages
- Excellent understanding of the pharmaceutical industry, health care system and payer structures in Lithuania
- Ability to travel
- Driver’s license required
Desirable Skills/Experience:
- Medical Doctor
- Advanced scientific degree in life sciences or a related discipline
- Two+ years of experience from medical affairs
- Clinical and/or research experience within relevant therapeutic area
- Strong leadership and management capabilities
