[Alexion Japan] Compliance Assurance Partner

This is what you will do:

The Compliance Assurance Partner (AP) will make a difference for the company and its internal and external stakeholders by helping to assure that business is conducted with integrity. The AP will have the opportunity to learn new facets of the business, interact with business leaders, and apply analytical and qualitative skills to role that regularly offers new challenges and opportunities.

The AP will report to the Head of Assurance for Alexion, AstraZeneca RDU and be part of Alexion’s Assurance team and the Global Assurance team, with close connections to the Alexion Compliance Team. The AP will collaborate closely with APs from across AstraZeneca, Global Compliance Investigations (GCI), the Alexion Ethics & Compliance team, and with the business to identify risk, monitor business activities, and conduct investigations across Alexion direct markets. The AP will remediate and mitigate risk and proactively improve business activities through meaningful partnerships and advice.

You will be responsible for:

  • Collaborating within Assurance to develop relevant and effective risk assessment and risk-based monitoring plans.
  • Timely executing risk assessments and monitoring plans for Alexion and as part of AstraZeneca’s overall monitoring and risk assessment strategy.
  • Providing the insights from risk assessments and monitoring plans to the Alexion Ethics & Compliance team, Assurance colleagues, business leaders, and others as appropriate.
  • Collaborating with the Alexion Ethics & Compliance team, Assurance colleagues, business leaders, and others as appropriate to create appropriate mitigation/remediation plans or process changes based on the findings of risk assessments and monitoring.
  • Recording risk assessment and monitoring activities in appropriate systems.
  • Strategically conducting investigations across Alexion direct markets, including planning, organizing, closing investigations and appropriately documenting in the relevant systems. 
  • Collaborating with Alexion Ethics & Compliance on investigations to ensure they are aware and providing relevant input and expertise.
  • Working with the business, HR, Legal, and Alexion Ethics & Compliance on remediations, including advising on underlying facts and root cause of any substantiated violation to help evaluate and effect appropriate individual corrective actions and process changes.
  • Partnering with GCI in its investigations that impact Alexion, as appropriate.
  • Partnering across the Global Assurance team to on non-Alexion investigations where appropriate.
  • Partnering across the Global Assurance team on strategic projects.
  • Performing other duties as necessary.

You will need to have:

  • Batchelor’s degree or higher (or local equivalent)
  • Understanding of pharmaceutical industry or related field, including understanding of relevant regulations.
  • Strong compliance, monitoring, or investigation knowledge and skills, or comparable experience.
  • Strong critical thinking and analytical skills.
  • Business acumen, including an ability to apply the compliance/monitoring/investigations skillset to real-life business issues and to influence stakeholders across levels and functions.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Willingness and ability to execute on complex issues under deadline.
  • Willingness and ability to work in an ever-changing and matrix environment, including collaboration across teams and time zones.
  • Willingness and ability to work with and analyze data.
  • Willingness and ability to effectively collaborate with colleagues across functions.
  • Interest and willingness to learn about new areas of the business.
  • Flexibility and creativity.
  • Fluency in English and Japanese.

We would prefer for you to have:

  • Ability to conduct monitoring and investigations in additional languages (fluency or near fluency).
