Ort Södertälje, Stockholm, Schweden Anzeigen-ID R-218794 Veröffentlichungsdatum 04/02/2025

AstraZeneca offers a unique thesis opportunity that focuses on advancing our Device Sustainability Strategy by investigating how to integrate recyclability and sustainable materials into the design and production of our Device Combination Products. This project will involve developing a comprehensive approach to material selection, device design, and lifecycle management, ensuring both environmental sustainability and regulatory compliance within the pharmaceutical industry.

About AstraZeneca:
AstraZeneca is a global, science-led, patient-centered biopharmaceutical company focusing on discovering, developing, and commercializing prescription medicines for some of the world’s most serious diseases. But we’re more than a global leading pharmaceutical company. At AstraZeneca, we're dedicated to being a Great Place to Work and empowering employees to push the boundaries of science and fuel their entrepreneurial spirit.

Thesis Work description:
The goal of this thesis work is to identify, evaluate, and implement strategies for optimizing the recyclability of AstraZeneca's Device Combination Products while incorporating sustainable materials that meet both technical and regulatory standards. This will include:

  • Material and Design Solutions: Identifying and evaluating recyclable materials that are suitable for use in device components. The project will also involve investigation of how to optimize for recyclability without compromising on functionality, manufacturability, or regulatory requirements.
  • Sustainable Materials Database: Updating AstraZeneca’s internal polymer database to include detailed information on materials used in combination products. This will include properties, supplier details, usage volumes, and an assessment of sustainable material alternatives. The project will also include advice on how to maintain the database and keep it up to date. The database will serve as a tool for decision-making, guiding future device designs and material selections.
  • Future Outlook and Industry Trends: Conducting an evaluation of emerging trends in recycling technologies, sustainable materials, and potential regulatory impacts, offering a forward-looking view on how these innovations might be integrated into AstraZeneca’s products.
