Introduction to role
As a member of the Site Leadership Team and head of function, this role will lead the Engineering, Facilities, SHE (Safety, Health, Environment), and Sustainability function at the Sweden Biomanufacturing Center. This position is responsible for providing strategic direction and proactively executing responsibilities within designated areas. Additionally, it actively contributes to the development and delivery of world-class service to the site, ensuring safe, uninterrupted, stable, and reliable operation of biological manufacturing processes. The role reports directly to the Executive Director of the Sweden Biomanufacturing Center and collaborates with the Site Leadership Team to provide seamless service. It includes line management responsibility for department staff, focusing on proactively driving initiatives in partnership with the Site Leadership Team to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness.
Key Accountabilities
Ensure and monitor adherence to compliance by team members and third parties by reinforcing the Code of Conduct and all relevant AstraZeneca Policies and Standards. Ensure the completion of required training, foster an open culture where employees feel comfortable raising questions or concerns, and promptly address and report any instances of non-compliance.

Leaders with accountability for GXP areas are expected to understand the legal and regulatory requirements of their roles in providing appropriate resources (which could be human, financial, material, facilities, and equipment) to maintain the Quality system and continually improve its effectiveness.
Develop and deliver an Engineering Strategy that proactively supports the business requirements and development of the Sweden Biologics Facility, ensuring alignment with the broader Sweden Operations and Supply Network strategies.
Manage team performance and individual development, including talent management processes.
Collaborate with key stakeholders in Sweden Operations to ensure alignment for overall business continuity, escalation, and crisis management.
Oversee the operation and maintenance of facilities, including the management of buildings, equipment, and services. Develop and maintain all facility services, operating costs, and associated programs, including security, cleaning, catering, and laundry.
Drive sustainability strategies and achieve environmental, health, and safety standards to position the Sweden Biomanufacturing Center as a leader in this area.
Own the capital budget and portfolio, driving and delivering on budget spend.
Supplier Engagement: Proactively develop and enforce requirements on global suppliers to ensure competitiveness with global benchmarks in areas of responsibility.
Position the organization at the forefront by implementing best practices in technical development and developing the competencies within the organization to ensure it remains competitive and effective, with strong leadership guiding the enhancement of the team’s skills and expertise to drive success.
Lead energy conservation initiatives that offer significant financial savings.
Communicate with management and customers regarding projects, operational decisions, and scheduling.
Essential Skills/Experience
Extensive knowledge of engineering and automation principles for process equipment.
