[Brief Job Description]
Focused on business acumen and insights, strong negotiation, category strategy, contracting and business partnering skills. Priority to successfully manage and influence internal stakeholders to deliver business objectives. Manages and takes overall responsibility for specific supplier relationships.Will be the point of contact for the business and suppliers ensuring any issues are managed appropriately, and supports implementation of new sourcing arrangements, including Japan specific regulations such as Sub Contract Act and Labor guideline.


[Job Responsibilities]
Manages or provides procurement technical process support to multiple procurement arrangements on a day-to-day basis ensuring adequate support and training on procurement processes
Oversees long-term resource planning for the function through responsibility of specific supplier relationships,  researching and assisting in selecting potential sources of material
Acts as a technical owner of a specific area within the Procurement Function with a deep understanding of processes and cost analysis
Either leads the planning, managing, and monitoring of procurement relationships and projects from concepts to implementation, or provides expert technical support to project manager 
Manages commercial review of procurement, oversees costs for several functions and provides input to cost improvement planning as appropriate
Keeps own knowledge of best practices and new developments up to date 
Leads trouble shooting activities to resolve existing problems, make complicated judgements and anticipate future developments in AstraZeneca’s Procurement related needs
Responsible for managing supplier relationships and expectations across a broad range of products or services in order to provide a high quality, timely and cost-effective service
Ensures optimal spend across relationships under management through support with cost management  
Employs prepared information to discuss, plan and re-evaluate supplier relationships
Develops contacts across a range of departments and/or external suppliers acting as a representative for functions
Ensures adherence to Health, Safety and Environment of own work and work of other employees
Supports on-going change management and continuous improvement and development for functions
Ensures adequate supervision, instruction and training is provided to all members of team
Negotiates contract terms primarily with external stakeholders, securing favorable conditions for the company while aligning with internal teams to meet organizational objectives.

[Typical Accountabilities]
Contributes to procurement plans and projects in congruence with organizational objectives and category and sourcing strategies
Conducts commercial review of procurement requisitions and Statements of Work in accordance with business requirements and budgets, including cost benefit analysis on planned acquisitions, specifications,  performance terms, and/or acceptance criteria and contracts 
Researches and assists in the selection of potential sources of materials and/or services, including building relationships with suppliers to maintain and develop recommended sources, evaluate suppliers and measure supplier performance 
Contributes to the preparation of competitive bids, quotations and proposals with pertinent specifications, terms and conditions
Contributes to procurement plans and projects in congruence with organizational objectives and category and sourcing strategies
Conducts commercial review of procurement requisitions and Statements of Work in accordance with business requirements and budgets, including cost benefit analysis on planned acquisitions, specifications,  performance terms, and/or acceptance criteria and contracts 
Researches and assists in the selection of potential sources of materials and/or services, including building relationships with suppliers to maintain and develop recommended sources, evaluate suppliers and measure supplier performance 
Contributes to the preparation of competitive bids, quotations and proposals with pertinent specifications, terms and conditions
Plays a leading role in the evaluation of competitive offerings to determine the overall best offer for a product or service.  Assists in analyzing proposals in support of the bid evaluation process
Through delegation, supports the Category Lead and/or Strategic Buying Team to undertake sourcing, negotiate and develop contracts and agreements and resolve contract issues for the supply of standard products using AZ templates and approaches
Lead product pricing review with user departments and suppliers
Undertakes internal and external analysis to assist with internal forecasting and inform supply market sourcing decisions
Maintains a cost reduction, cost avoidance, cost containment program and reports it via the value database
Complies with all regulatory and AZ requirements relevant to the role, e.g. Sarbanes Oxley, Code of Conduct, Financial Control Framework

Degree level or equivalent Experience of procurement 
Strong communication and influencing skills
Proved ability to manage multiple projects/tasks/negotiations effectively
Demonstrated success working in a team environment
Strong analytical and financial skills
