Summary of Position:

The Project Manager, Meetings & Events will drive outstanding meeting and events planning services that are efficient and deliver value to AstraZeneca. They will have end to end accountability for internal and external meeting execution (face-to-face, virtual and hybrid), liaising with business owners, sourcing, and logistics partner to ensure success. This includes driving the planning process, leading planning discussions and driving timelines with business owners and external vendors.

The ideal candidate will have strong project management, problem solving, negotiation and interpersonal skills, and be able to work with little supervision. Candidates must be highly organized, flexible, thrive in a fast-paced and highly regulated environment, be willing to collaborate with other areas where needed and balance multiple projects with tight deadlines. They should understand the business objectives, culture and be able to keep up with evolving priorities. They will also contribute to broader organization programs and company goals.

What You’ll Do:

  • Provide strong project management with the ability to communicate and collaborate effectively across all levels of organizations, both internal and external.
  • End-to-end accountability to plan and implement internal and external meetings (face-to face/virtual/hybrid) by working in collaboration with the business meeting owner and external partners for all aspects of a meeting, including site recommendations, budget management, creation and ownership of project plan, attendee management, building event agendas and on-site support.
  • Oversee external meeting partner’s logistic responsibilities including, supplier recommendations, contracting, catering, venue management and travel arrangements.
  • Effectively manage external vendors and internal partners while establishing collaborative relationships.
  • Understand the business priorities and AstraZeneca culture including sustainability, regulations, policies and reporting requirements.
  • Identify creative solutions to find cost saving opportunities while adapting to changing business needs, policies and laws.
  • Be an actively engaged member of the broader GME (AZ Global Meetings and Events) team through best practices and knowledge sharing while managing awareness of GME process and procedures in the Canadian Market.
  • Act as an engagement owner for AstraZeneca Canada’s Meeting Management Companies (MMC); coordinating activities and providing support, direction and appropriate training to deliver on all meeting objectives.
  • Travel to and support off-site event delivery and execution when required.

What We’re Looking For:

  • 3+ years of project management experience, expertise in leading teams and driving performance through external suppliers in dynamic and fast-paced environments.
  • 3+ years of focused experience in meeting management and the travel industry.
  • Hold a Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Strong commitment to adhering to industry guidelines, company policies, and maintaining financial visibility.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in financial management and budget oversight.
  • Proven ability to act independently, adapt to change, and remain resilient under pressure.
  • Proficient in written and verbal communication, negotiation, collaboration, conflict management, and interpersonal relations.
  • Skilled in MS Office tools, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel; familiarity with meeting industry technology (e.g., CVENT, meeting apps).
  • Adept in planning virtual, hybrid, and sustainable meetings.
  • Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) or Project Management Professional (PMP®) Certification is a plus.
  • Bilingual in French and English is considered an asset.
