Summary of Position:
Medical Information at AstraZeneca plays a pivotal role in planning, developing, maintaining, and delivering medical content and communications to healthcare professionals across various channels, including digital platforms, to enhance patient care. As an integral member of the therapeutically aligned business unit, you will contribute to the medical strategy by creating and maintaining high-quality medical and scientific content while providing valuable insights and recommendations to internal stakeholders. You will also be pioneering advancements in customer engagement, leveraging new digital systems and tools to optimize our full external engagement opportunity.
What You’ll Do:
Typical Accountabilities/Responsibilities:
- Serve as a medical content expert for AstraZeneca therapeutic areas, including products, disease states, emerging therapies, and the therapeutic landscape.
- Provide accurate, timely responses (verbal and written) to triaged/escalated medical information requests from healthcare practitioners or vendors.
- Develop, review, and maintain local medical information content (e.g., standard response letters, literature comparisons, market intelligence) aligned with global assets and local strategies.
- Identify and report Adverse Events to Patient Safety per standard operating procedures (training provided prior to task execution).
- Partner with medical advisors to build medical specific digital initiatives (e.g., OPTIC, AZMedical, MedOmni) in alignment with our scientific strategic objectives.
- Organize, host, or participate in "My Science Matters" (MSM) events within the organization.
- Collaborate with other members of MSI to activate TA aligned deliverables.
- Provide team support as needed and undertake tasks assigned by management to improve processes and foster professional development.
- Meet all local and global key performance indicators for Medical Information deliverables.
- Conduct all activities in alignment with AstraZeneca’s values, Code of Ethics, and supporting Policies, reporting any potential compliance issues.
Scientific Content/Brand Partnership:
- Drive content strategy and channel management for external engagement in collaboration with the Medical Advisor.
- Work collaboratively with medical team locally and medical information and content team globally in the creation of NextGen medical content.
- Willingness to innovate in the content space, bringing new design and initiative to drive how we think about communication of AZ Science.
Customer Engagement:
- Engage virtually with healthcare professionals (HCPs) in scientific discussions to support informed treatment decisions and improve patient outcomes.
- Expand medical-scientific engagement through a multichannel approach.
- Pioneer NextGen engagement options to drive TA aligned scientific strategy.
What We’re Looking For:
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience in the pharmaceutical industry, ideally in Medical Information or within the Medical Affairs function, or completion of an industrial pharmacy residency program, paired with at least 2 years of clinical experience, is preferred.
- An advanced scientific degree (MSc, PhD, PharmD, MPharm or MD), HCP designation considered an asset.
- Strong preference for candidates with experience in using and developing digital content and/or shaping digital content strategy.
- Outstanding communication skills, both verbal and written, with a proven ability to learn, articulate, and explain complex scientific concepts effectively.
- Demonstrated expertise in critically evaluating, analyzing, and synthesizing scientific literature to deliver accurate and impactful information to healthcare professionals through diverse channels.
- Experience in medical writing, communications, and content creation (e.g., developing slide decks).
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships, engage effectively with customers, and contribute meaningfully to team success.
- Proficiency in delivering compelling presentations.
- Bilingualism in English and French is considered an asset.
