Manager, Drug Project Coordinator

Introduction to role:

Are you ready to make a substantial impact on patients' lives? As a Manager, R&D Drug Project Coordinator, you'll be at the heart of our Alexion R&D Global Portfolio and Program Management department. Collaborating closely with the R&D Global Program Manager and cross-functional teams, you'll ensure high-quality project data maintenance and support the operations of the Global Program Team. This role offers the chance to grow into other project management roles while contributing to life-changing medicines.

Accountabilities:

  • In this dynamic position, you'll play a crucial role in supporting project operations alongside the Global Program Manager. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Organizing project team meeting logistics, including scheduling, room bookings, and agenda preparation.

  • Being responsible for information through SharePoint and ensuring version control of documents.

  • Developing expertise in IT systems to resolve time-sensitive queries efficiently.

  • Preparing reports to maintain high data quality in Project Management Systems like Planisware.

  • Handling governance presentation logistics and supporting risk management activities.

  • Coordinating communications, creating distribution lists, onboarding materials, and tracking landmarks.

  • Proactively overseeing action items, identifying issues, and bringing them to attention appropriately.

  • Applying project management standard processes across all project phases.

  • Partnering with other coordinators to establish and apply standard methodologies.

Essential Skills/Experience:

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in scientific/technical subject area

  • 3+ years of direct experience in Pharmaceutical R&D drug development project coordination, analyst or management roles.

  • Competency with Microsoft applications, including: MS Project, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Visio, and MS Teams

  • Significant attention to detail to be able to deliver high quality reporting

  • Strong communication skills, ability to work within tight timelines, and comfortable working in a fast paced and changing environment

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Demonstrated ability to produce high quality and accurate information and maintain accurate record of documents with attention to detail

  • Ability to format documents (.ppt, .doc, .xls, etc.) for consistent, professional appearance and experience handling sensitive information in a confidential and discrete manner

  • Must be able to exercise judgment, tact, and diplomacy on behalf of the GPPM team when dealing with different levels of management

  • The duties of this role are generally conducted in an office environment. As is typical of an office-based role, employees must be able, with or without an accommodation to: use a computer; engage in communications via phone, video, and electronic messaging; problem solve; engage in complex and non-linear thought, analysis, and dialogue; collaborate with others; maintain general availability during standard business hours

Desirable Skills/Experience:

  • 3+ years of relevant proven experience in relevant roles

  • Fundamental understanding in planning software (Microsoft Project, Planisware, Smartsheet, or others)

  • Direct Planisware experience strongly preferred

  • Fundamental understanding of the Drug Development process

  • Project Management Institute (PMI) qualifications or similar formal training preferred
