Our Position

As part of the Marketing Innovation & Digital Excellence Team, the Digital Excellence Manager, is the go-to-leader to bridge the physical and digital together in co-creating experiences within their respective portfolios. You will be responsible for providing digital channel guidance and driving the overall promotional development process from brief to delivery, for a portfolio of products, programs and campaigns including multi and omnichannel marketing. As a Digital Excellence Manager, you will advise brand marketing teams on appropriate channels and mix of channels to support commercial efforts that help them achieve their business goals. These channels include digital, traditional, and paid/social media. You will build relationships and lead collaboration with local brand teams, global teams; digital, print production, IT, digital product managers, cross-functional partners and external creative and media agencies.

The Digital Excellence Manager has accountability for partnering with their assigned Digital Product Owner in delivering executional excellence and is responsible for driving brand team satisfaction and AZ business outcomes. They will have the ability to effectively engage, influence and challenge key partners both local and global, internal and external, in order to deliver data-driven campaigns that effectively advance the business. They will also ensure satisfaction and ongoing continuous optimization of their efforts. They require strong eye for business and content/project management skills, understanding of process solutions, comprehension of digital and non-digital channels, customer centric marketing, digital marketing, and data-driven decision making.

Accountabilities: 

  • Leads cross-functional teams to meet project/program results: Brand Marketing and Sales teams, Analytics, Global partners, creative & digital media agencies and all production vendors

  • Manages multiple projects and priorities simultaneously in an extremely fast-paced, deadline driven environment. Flags issues with brand teams, anticipates obstacles, provides way forward solutions, and makes decisions under ambiguous and constantly evolving situations

  • As a subject matter expert (SME) of channels and content, assesses what the business is trying to solve and recommends the optimal channel mix to best solve for that customer, based on channel impact, customer preferences and user experience

  • Ensures integration of multi-channel tactics that ladder up to a cohesive campaign – traditional, digital & social, and paid media

  • Ensures custom tagging is applied to appropriate assets and aligns with back-end analytics requirements

  • Plays a meaningful role in content delivery and project management for digital, multichannel and omnichannel campaigns

  • Provides creative expertise, user experience & channel best practices

  • Ensures application of creative initiatives (cohesive common look and feel user friendly) are carried through at a brand level

  • Shares examples across Business Units to maximise commercial lessons and consistent approach

  • Provides guidance on regulatory strategies and ensures programs are aligned with internal governance such as PAAB, ASC and local regulations

  • Ensures solid understanding of brand/therapeutic area strategies to be able to provide valuable input during project briefings/initial development of tactics or program

  • Portfolio lead on paid media activity and works with media agency of record on forming strong media plan for campaigns that require it – also tasked to supervise and share results with brand teams while also ensuring elements of campaign are optimized when needed

  • Portfolio lead managing the relationship & process with production/development partners

  • Builds and maintains strong strategic partnerships with key partners, internally and externally by proactively seeking out and looking for innovative project solutions.

  • Continuously monitors emerging digital technologies, working with the Product Manager to input on digital product roadmap and evolving current digital capabilities such as e-mail, web, paid media, social, mobile apps, etc.

  • Support on-boarding of new Marketers and third parties as required

  • Supports Senior Manager, Marketing Innovation & Digital Excellence with Enterprise and above-brand Media and creative initiatives

  • Lead for marketing process systems (Veeva PromoMats, Content Centre Portal, Ebrief, iPOLO etc)

Required Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education or equivalent work experience

  • 3-6 years of practical experience – agency account management or equivalent Digital Marketing experience within an organization 

  • Proven project management and agency leadership skills

  • Strong customer experience skills with knowledge and execution of channels such as email, SMS, web, SEM, social media including paid media

  • Demonstrated track record in development and delivery of assets through a variety of channels (digital and traditional)

  • Ability to influence partners when recommending channel mix and managing programs is key

  • Thrives in a fast-paced, constantly evolving environment

  • Strong negotiation skills demonstrated

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in the pharmaceutical industry preferred or in a highly regulated industry like banking

  • Familiarity with Veeva PromoMats and CLM/CRM is an asset
