Introduction to role:
AstraZeneca is seeking a privacy (legal) professional with competence and drive to join our Contracts Content & Templates Team (CCT). This role is based in Mississauga, Canada, and involves managing contract templates and advising on contracting matters related to privacy, including R&D contracts for global clinical trials, product development, and general vendor contracts. You will work closely with the CCT, the AstraZeneca Global Privacy Office, and other partners across our global business.
Accountabilities:
- Draft, negotiate, and advise internal stakeholders on data protection and privacy agreements, as well as contractual matters related to privacy to support AstraZeneca's global business.
- Manage, develop, and update contract templates, clauses, as well as guidance and playbooks for data protection and other privacy agreements.
- Collaborate on the optimization and implementation of contract lifecycle management systems and processes across AstraZeneca’s business.
- Act as a point of contact with internal stakeholders and support training related to privacy contracts across multiple functions and geographies, ensuring high responsiveness and customer service.
- Interact closely with the AstraZeneca Global Privacy Office, Global Procurement Services, the Legal team, and AstraZeneca’s third parties to understand business requirements and implement alternative and innovative approaches consistent with management priorities, AstraZeneca’s legal and business policies and procedures.
- Provide pragmatic and timely counsel to support AstraZeneca business operations.
Essential Skills/Experience:
- Bachelors Degree in law
- 3+ years of experience in Privacy, Legal, Contracts, Compliance or Risk Management with a strong privacy or data protection law knowledge, preferably in a multinational company, and/or a reputable, highly rated law firm, or a combination of both.
- Experience dedicated to drafting and advising on contractual matters.
- Excellent writing, proofreading, editing skills, verbal and written communication skills, and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple commitments.
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills, including diplomacy and flexibility, and the ability to interface effectively within the organization or with external parties.
Desirable Skills/Experience:
- Experience with regulating cross-border data transfers in an international environment.
- Legal licensing process complete or underway.
- Experience with training internal stakeholders on data protection and privacy contractual requirements.
