BioPharmaceuticals Medical Evidence – Senior Director, Policy Evidence, Global Implementation Lead

Introduction to role:
Are you ready to lead the charge in transforming healthcare policy? As the Policy Evidence Global Implementation Lead, you'll work closely with the Head of Policy Evidence to deliver strategic studies that support government and healthcare system policymaking. Your mission is to scale our health policy capabilities and drive innovative global strategic policy-evidence studies. Collaborate with cross-functional partners and AZ-country affiliates to identify future policy evidence-use cases and integrate them into existing business processes. Are you up for the challenge?

Accountabilities:

  • Lead the implementation of new global Policy Evidence flagship studies across markets.

  • Scale ongoing Policy Evidence flagship study tools into new markets, focusing on Transform Care programs.

  • Drive strategic alignment of policy evidence across cross-functional priorities to maximize patient impact.

  • Support the implementation of Policy Evidence capabilities across local and global teams.

  • Translate problems into specific analytical questions and form hypotheses that can be answered with RWD.

  • Identify, initiate, and foster strategic external partnerships to optimize policy-making and health systems.

  • Discover new use cases for policy evidence, including research questions, tools, and new technologies/communication.

  • Plan and advocate for scaling policy evidence programs to maximize Transform Care opportunities.

Essential Skills/Experience:

  • Business / medical science degree / policy/ political science/ health services research degree with commercial experience is required.

  • Experience in government or policy-making adjacent organization with a strong preference for healthcare experience.

  • Experience in healthcare or biopharma industry, with a strong preference for experience in R&I and CVRM therapeutic areas.

  • Track record of engaging and external influencing, including public speaking and publications in high-quality journals on topics relevant to evidence exploration.

  • Experience in product marketing and deployment – delivering new solutions to market (ability to shape a new proposition to deliver value to stakeholders).

  • Track record for implementing and managing complex programs and capability development in a global matrix environment.

  • Excellent project management skills.

  • Strong communication skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to influence without authority.

  • Ability to enthuse, motivate, empower, and involve partners to meet challenging targets by providing direction, reviewing performance, and motivating others.

Desirable Skills/Experience:

  • Expert knowledge of government decision-making processes, including working directly on government strategy, policy, legislation/regulations, health economic models, and cabinet submissions to inform population health programs is highly desirable.

  • Health economic, data science, or epidemiological technical expertise.

  • Business Process expertise (lean six sigma) and/or Change Management certification.

  • Expertise in RWD generation, delivery, and translation to impact clinical practice and government policy/funding decisions.

  • Demonstrated ability to bring ideas to action in areas such as product launch, RWD, market shaping/expansion, unbranded/disease awareness HCP campaigns/government campaigns.

  • In-depth understanding of medical and commercial strategy, methodologies, and tools.
