Associate Director, Scientific Communications and Engagement

Introduction to role:
The Associate Director, Scientific Communications and Engagement, reporting to the Director of Communication and Business Support, should have a minimum of 10 years of experience in communication, demonstrating a strong track record in internal communication, external communication, public relations, and branding. This role will work in the Communications team and will be responsible for creating compelling content that builds and strengthens the narrative of BioPharma Clinical Operations.
Accountabilities:
Developing Internal Stories:
- Proactively identify and craft engaging stories that highlight the work and successes of various teams within BioPharma ClinOps.
- Collaborate with different departments to gather insights and translate complex information into accessible content for a diverse audience.
External Engagement:
- Create compelling and engaging content for owned social media channels to raise awareness about the function, showcasing our expertise, thought leadership, and industry insights.
- Develop and execute a content plan that effectively communicates the function's value proposition, engages our target audience, and strengthens our presence on the platform.
High-Quality Communications:
- Create a range of high-quality communication materials, including videos, graphic design posters, newsletters, and presentations to effectively communicate key messages.
- Ensure content is on-brand, consistent in terms of style, quality, and tone of voice, and optimized for engagement.
Strategic Communications and Advisory:
- Assist in the management of the internal communications calendar, ensuring that all communications are timely, relevant, and coordinated.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal clients to understand their needs and provide effective communication solutions.
Report Coordination:
- Coordinate the collection and compilation of data for the submission of comprehensive reports for business cycles, including monthly performance reports.
- Take responsibility for the preparation and quality assurance of internal communication materials related to business reporting.
Event Management:
- Lead and execute key departmental events, ensuring they are well-organized and that they effectively convey the intended messages to the audience.
- Measure the impact of events and incorporate feedback into future planning to continuously improve engagement.
Leader Engagement Initiatives:
- Implement initiatives aimed at increasing leader visibility and engagement, fostering an environment where open communication is encouraged.
- Use both face-to-face and virtual platforms to facilitate and promote a culture of dialogue and feedback throughout the department.
Channel Best Practices:
- Act as a champion for effective use of communication channels, continuously seeking to optimize reach and engagement.
- Encourage the use of standard methodologies for internal and external social media, intranet, email, and other communication platforms, to ensure consistent and effective messaging.
Essential Skills/Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field.
- Atleast 10 years in internal communications, corporate communications within a complex organization.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey information in a clear and compelling manner.
- Strong storytelling skills, with an eye for detail and an ability to turn complex information into engaging narratives.
- Proficiency with digital communication tools and platforms, including content management systems and social media.
- Ability to work collaboratively across teams and with senior leadership.
- Project management skills, with a capacity to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proficiency in relevant software and tools, including Adobe Creative Suite, video editing software, and communication management platforms.
Desirable Skills/Experience:
- Experience in the pharmaceutical or healthcare industry.
- Knowledge of the regulatory and compliance environment affecting internal communications within the pharmaceutical sector.
- Experience in event planning and execution.
- Video production and editing skills.
