Do you bring expertise in specialty or rare disease areas, and a passion for helping patients get the right care earlier?  Are you a strategic, scientifically credible account manager who connects the right collaborators, turns ideas into pragmatic programs, and advocates for patients in complex care pathways?   If so, Alexion may be the right fit for you.

This Adelaide-based permanent opportunity at Alexion offers the chance to directly influence patient access and clinical practice in neurology, nephrology & haematology - including new product launch activity in a competitive setting.

About AstraZeneca & Alexion Rare Disease:

AstraZeneca is a global, science-led biopharmaceutical company transforming treatment across Oncology, CVRM, Respiratory & Immunology and Rare Disease.

Alexion, AstraZeneca Rare Disease is dedicated to advancing care for individuals affected by rare diseases. We work alongside clinicians to support appropriate access and long-term patient care, and redefine what is possible for patients and their families.

What you’ll do:

In this full time, permanent role you will lead SA and NT accounts, working mainly across Adelaide with limited travel to Darwin. You’ll partner with a focused group of specialist prescribers, related healthcare providers and infusion centres to build trusted partnerships and improve access across rare disease pathways.

The portfolio includes highly specialized in-market products in haematology, nephrology and neurology – with launch activity for neurology. You will own your territory with a high level of autonomy, using resilience, business insight and strong execution to build momentum over time in this challenging but rewarding territory.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead regional account planning with clear objectives and tailored value propositions for priority centres.

  • Map and prioritize targets using local epidemiology, patient flow, and adopter segmentation; plan calls and handle objections.

  • Build long-term relationships with key specialists, nurses, pharmacists, clinic managers, and hospital administrators.

  • Coordinate peer-to-peer education and regional events; brief speakers and ensure compliant scientific exchange, in partnership with Medical.

  • Partner with Medical, Market Access, Patient Support and Commercial Excellence to remove barriers and secure wins.

  • Implement in-person, virtual and digital engagement with timely follow-up and sustained cadence across accounts.

  • Maintain operational excellence: CRM accuracy, documentation, contracting, budget stewardship and governance adherence.

  • Represent the company at regional society meetings and congresses; travel routinely across your account territories.

Essential for the role:

  • Minimum 5 years’ biotechnology, pharmaceutical sales or Key Account Management experience in specialty care, including launching new products or indications.

  • Consistent track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets and launch execution goals in complex hospital or clinic environments requiring resilience, autonomy and creative problem-solving.

  • Experience navigating difficult access environments and building trusted relationships with specialist healthcare professionals and multidisciplinary partners.

  • Strong strategic account planning, influencing and negotiation skills, with the ability to turn insights into clear local actions.

  • Bachelor’s degree in a scientific field or relevant industry experience.

  • Current, valid driver’s licence and familiarity with the Medicines Australia Code of Conduct and field compliance requirements.

Desirable for the role

  • Experience and relationships in haematology, nephrology, neurology or adjacent specialist therapy areas, including Rare Disease.

  • Experience with infused or injected products, infusion pathways or infusion centre engagement.

  • Knowledge of market access pull-through, hospital formulary processes and specialty pharmacy workflows.

  • Experience with omnichannel engagement and data-driven customer planning in launch or post-launch settings.
