Introduction to role:

Are you graduating during the Summer of 2025, with a passion for analytical chemistry and a desire to make a real impact in the pharmaceutical industry? We are seeking enthusiastic and motivated scientists to join our Chemical Development team in Operations. You will be part of the project development team, driving the quality of the active pharmaceuticals we made in the lab and on plant manufacture.

Accountabilities:

In this role, you will have the opportunity to develop robust analytical methodologies to enable the design of synthetic routes and processes, applying chemistry and analytical skills to real-life situations. Problem solving skills will ensure the supply of medicines to patients, you will build Data and AI skills, plan and implement lab-based experimental work, interpret analytical data, and use your technical knowledge to contribute to improvement projects. Develop within specialist scientific and technology networks within Chemical Development and wider functions, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and ensure that work is in accordance with appropriate Safety, Health & Environment guidelines, quality and compliance standards.

Required Skills and Experience:

- Degree or equivalent experience or equivalent in Chemistry or Analytical Chemistry (achieved or due to graduate by Summer 2025).

- Ability to demonstrate the very latest pioneering analytical chemistry knowledge from degree course.

- Use or knowledge of in silico experiments and application

- Experience of a broad range analytical techniques (e.g. LC, NMR, MS).

- A rational and logical approach to decision-making and problem-solving; the ability to make judgements based on sound reasoning and data.

- Self-motivated and systematic approach to work and delivering to deadlines.

- Good communication skills (written and spoken).

Preferred Skills & Experience:

- Some industrial experience in analytical chemistry, e.g. a sandwich or summer placement during your degree, or equivalent.

- Solid understanding of scientific literature and searching techniques.

- Evidence of ability to collaborate and work optimally within teams.

- Examples of project management skills and input.

- Data science skills, such as data visualisation, data manipulation, coding, model building or other related areas.
