12 Month Internship: EU Government Affairs

Location: Groot-Bijgaarden, Belgium

Introduction to role

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic intern to join our EU Affairs team for a 12-month, full-time internship. The successful candidate will support our Brussels-based EU office in external engagement with the EU institutions on a range of legislative and policy initiatives spanning the health, medicine, and sustainability sectors. This is an outstanding opportunity to gain hands-on experience in EU government affairs and public policy, work in a dynamic and international environment, and be exposed to a wide range of legislative and policy issues. You will also benefit from mentorship and professional development opportunities.

Accountabilities

• Assist in supervising and analysing EU legislative and policy developments relevant to AstraZeneca's business.
• Assist in crafting briefing materials, position papers, and presentations for internal and external collaborators.
• Take part in meetings with EU institutions, industry associations, and other partners.
• Contribute to the development and implementation of advocacy strategies.
• Assist in coordinating events and meetings related to EU affairs.
• Provide administrative support to the EU Affairs team as needed.

Crucial Skills/Experience

• Strong curiosity about EU affairs, public policy, and the pharmaceutical industry.
• Excellent research, analytical, and writing skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Relevant educational background (e.g. degree in Political Science, International Relations, Law, Public Health).
• Proficiency in English and the knowledge of another EU language
