As a Senior Scientist in Flow Cytometry at AstraZeneca, you'll be at the forefront of scientific innovation, supporting operations in Gaithersburg, MD. With a focus on core lab experience and cell sorting, you'll collaborate across multiple therapeutic areas, gaining invaluable experience in a fast-paced environment under the guidance of senior staff.
Accountabilities
In this role, you will serve as a primary resource to:
Support the daily operation and maintenance of flow cytometers with a specific focus on advanced data analysis and automation, and ensure accurate acquisition and management of data under local and global flow cytometry leadership
Collaborate on innovative immunology/flow cytometry projects and/or automation solutions to support Oncology and BioPharma within AstraZeneca
Be an expert in multicolor flow cytometry, review and analyze data, interpret experimental results, and summarize data for presentations and reports with accountability for accuracy
Contribute to the development of new technological platforms in particular Imaging Flow Cytometry
Demonstrate excellent collaborative and pro-active problem-solving skills to include identifying a problem and taking appropriate actions and knowing when to seek guidance
Essential Skills/Experience
PhD degree (or equivalent experience) in Immunology, Bioinformatics, Engineering or a related quantitative discipline and 3+ years of relevant experience, or a Masters with 5+ years, or a Bachelor’s with 8 years of directly relevant outstanding performance
Track record of scientific excellence in advanced flow cytometry and/or automation
High-content spectral flow cytometry data experience and/or imaging
Experience with a variety of flow cytometry data analysis and bioinformatic tools, including FlowJo, FCS Express, OMIQ, Cytobank, and/or Python or R
Great teamwork and communication skills, both verbal and written
Strong multi-tasking, time management and organizational skills
Desirable Skills/Experience
Programming skills such as Python and R are highly desirable
Experience in automation is highly desirable
Microscopy experience is desirable
Immunology experience is desirable
Experience in understanding and analyzing other omics data (e.g. transcriptomics, mass spec) is a plus
