Introduction to Role:
Our cloud platform will play a crucial part in the success of Evinova as the foundation for our current and future digital products. We are creating a dynamic and innovative team to take our organization to the forefront of technology solutions for the life sciences industry. As we begin our journey, we are seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Data Architect that can understand large, complex data integration landscapes and drive optimal data model and data pipeline solutions.
This position offers a unique opportunity to lead as a data expert, innovate, and make a significant impact on our ability to meet customer needs. An ideal candidate should be a creative problem solver who can identify and deeply understand challenges and opportunities for Evinova customers and products. This role presents an opportunity to join Evinova from the beginning, implementing a market-leading, foundational platform designed by industry, for industry.
Accountabilities:
- Data Architecture: Experience working with complex data systems, reverse-engineering, and understanding data requirements of disparate systems to build out a singular data architecture across and entire platform, and/or individual applications.
- Data Flow: Able to map how data flows through a system from start to finish and through that process optimize.
- Database Engineering: Experience in building SQL (PostgreSQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB, DocumentDB, and DynamoDB) databases.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure the applications and services meets all regulatory requirements specific to the pharmaceutical industry, including data security, privacy, and compliance with industry standards by working work the appropriate quality teams and following the expected processes needed.
- Security and Data Protection: Work with the Cyber Security teams to develop and maintain robust security access controls, encryption, and data protection, to safeguard sensitive pharmaceutical data within our deployments, security and compliance checks, and operations for the application, its services, and database.
- Monitoring and Performance Optimization: Help implement monitoring and analytics tools to track platform performance, identify bottlenecks, and optimize resource utilization for data systems and data flow.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product management, quality assurance, and customer support, to ensure platform alignment with customer requirements and company goals.
- Quality Assurance: Work with and develop a strong repeatable process with our QA teams to ensure data integrity, security, privacy, and compliance with industry regulations for delivering and maintaining platform services.
- Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for the databases and data architecture, ensuring transparency and ease of use for both internal teams and potentially customers.
- Compliance Adherence: Comprehension of regulatory data requirements while creating, maintaining, and updating processes for testing and assessment of adherence to regulatory compliance policies.
Essential Skills/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in data architecture and data pipelines
- Understanding of modern data solutions and tools
- Familiarity with AWS cloud development environment and capabilities including Lambda, Glue, Step Functions, EventBridge, and CDK w/Typescript.
- Familiarity with Kubernetes clusters and kafka streams.
- Expertise in database systems and best practices
- Good knowledge of github and CI/CD for data engineering workflows.
- Strong programming skills in Node.js, Python and TypeScript. Familiarity with Kotlin preferred.
- Proficiency in security best practices, data protection, and encryption methods.
- Knowledge of data security standards and regulatory compliance in the healthcare and clinical research industry.
- Familiarity with technical concepts in infrastructure or applications.
- Knowledge of industry good practice and standards such as ISO (multiple), GAMP GxP, ICH GCP, FDA 21 CFR, GDPR, CMMI, ITIL, GDPR.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in an agile environment.
- Good project management and time management skills.

- Ability to describe technical concepts verbally and in documentation.
- Meticulous attention to detail to ensure data integrity, accuracy, and compliance.

Desirable Skills/Experience:
- Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a related field.
- 8+ years of experience in data engineering, data architecture, or analytics.

Total Rewards:
The annual base pay for this position ranges from $123,114.40 to $184,671.60. Hourly and salaried non-exempt employees will also be paid overtime pay when working qualifying overtime hours. Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition, our positions offer a short-term incentive bonus opportunity; eligibility to participate in our equity-based long-term incentive program (salaried roles), to receive a retirement contribution (hourly roles), and commission payment eligibility (sales roles). Benefits offered included a qualified retirement program [401(k) plan]; paid vacation and holidays; paid leaves; and, health benefits including medical, prescription drug, dental, and vision coverage in accordance with the terms and conditions of the applicable plans. Additional details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
