Laboratory Space Analyst Summer Intern
We are seeking an undergraduate sophomore or junior student majoring in Architecture/Space Programming, Facilities/Operations Management, Life Sciences, or a related field for a 12-Week Student Intern role in Gaithersburg, MD for a May 19th - August 8th contract period.
Position Duties:
- Conduct thorough assessments of laboratory spaces to capture details such as the number of laboratory benches, equipment, overall layout, review of storage, equipment, empty bench space, supplies, whether the lab space is renovated or not, if the benches are mobile or affixed, and whether lighting is inset or dropped.
- Collaborate with laboratory staff and facilities management to ensure comprehensive data collection.
- Compile and organize captured data into clear and accessible formats for further analysis and reference.
- Communicate research findings in oral and poster presentations.
Position Requirements:
- Undergraduate sophomore or junior student majoring in Architecture/Space Programming, Facilities/Operations Management, Life Sciences, or a related field. **Candidates must have an expected graduation date after August 2025.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to meticulously capture and record data.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with laboratory personnel.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Ability to read floor plans is required.
- Familiarity with basic laboratory equipment and safety protocols is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with using databases and analytics programs is preferred.
- Familiarity with programs such as AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, etc. is a bonus.
- Proficiency in MS Office: Excel, PowerPoint, Word
- Enthusiasm for collaboration, cross-functional projects, public speaking, and presentation design.
- US Work Authorization is required at time of application.
- This role will not be providing CPT/OPT support.
- Ability to report onsite to Gaithersburg, MD five days a week. This role will not provide relocation assistance.
- Minimum grade point average of 3.0
