Director, Portfolio Planning and Analytics
This role sits within the Early Oncology Global Projects Team in the Early Oncology Org within Oncology R&D. This team is responsible for the strategic leadership and execution of the solid tumor oncology portfolio. The Director, Business Planning and Operations reports directly to the VP Global Projects. The BPO leads and manages the business operations for the Global Projects Team including working with the leadership team to deliver the team’s vision, objectives, and advance the development of early assets to later stage development. This role must be able to effectively navigate multiple diverse team members, think strategically about key issues affecting R&D operations. In addition, this role requires a high degree of influencing skills and independent thinking.
Accountabilities
- Regularly engage Early Oncology and ORD senior leadership on behalf of the early projects team
- Coordinate across Early Oncology functions in cross-functional teams
- Collaborate with broad functional teams across the early and late-stage oncology organization
- Lead internal workstreams in close collaboration with other members of the Leadership Team
- Maintain Early Oncology specific portfolio views needed for decision making and information sharing
- Support LTP/MTP through developing portfolio targets; forecasting volumes including breakdown by key characteristics to inform expert function planning
- Develop portfolio information and manage enterprise-wide tools, including determining appropriate visualization and archival tools
- Manage the Global Project team meetings, including planning F2F extended meetings, engaging with speakers to ensure material is available prior to the meeting
- Functional scorecard development and monitoring, highlighting risks to the team and assisting in preparation of quarterly scorecard reports
- Track functional budget and CO2; provide forecast to support Annual Business Cycle planning
- Manage information across SPOL and Teams sites
- Coordinate Development training for Global Projects Team
- Support hiring and execution of the secondment program
- Support internal team communications and announcements
Essential Skills/Experience
- Master’s degree or equivalent qualification
- Knowledge of oncology and drug development process
- Experience in resource planning, monitoring and reporting
- Experience in portfolio management
- Ability to communicate trends from large volumes of data
- Strong communications skills and ability to effectively network across global functions
- Ability to act independently, decisively & manage complex processes
- Experience working in a matrixed organization with demonstrated ability to influence across an organization.
- Must demonstrate high integrity
Desirable Skills/Experience
- PhD or equivalent qualifications
- Experience in Oncology drug development within a large pharmaceutical company
- Advanced skills in Excel, PowerBI or other portfolio modelling and visualization tools
The annual base pay for this position ranges from $150,539 to $225,808. Hourly and salaried non-exempt employees will also be paid overtime pay when working qualifying overtime hours. Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition, our positions offer a short-term incentive bonus opportunity; eligibility to participate in our equity-based long-term incentive program (salaried roles), to receive a retirement contribution (hourly roles), and commission payment eligibility (sales roles).
