Analytical Sciences Intern
We are seeking undergraduate juniors and masters-level* students majoring in Data Science, Computer Science, Cognitive Science, Artificial Intelligence, Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Biostatistics, or a related field for a 12-Week Student Intern role in Durham, NC for a May 19th - August 8th contract period.
Position Duties:
Projects within this role include the below:
1) AI-Driven Data Analysis and Extraction:
- Assist in gathering unstructured data from internal sources such as EQV/ECMS.
- Utilize Generative AI and Large Language Model (LLM) techniques to retrieve relevant E&L data.
2) Enhancing Data Quality through AI:
- Drive data enrichment initiatives by applying sophisticated Natural Language Processing (NLP) techniques to improve data quality and usability.
- Work on real-world projects that directly impact the company's ability to manage and disseminate Extractables and Leachables (E&L) data, providing valuable insights that support decision-making processes.
3) Innovative Data Harmonization and Integration:
- Lead efforts in standardizing and integrating diverse data sets, ensuring a seamless and coherent data structure across the organization.
- Utilize cutting-edge NLP algorithms for auto-tagging and metadata extraction, contributing to the development of a robust data harmonization framework.
Position Requirements:
- Undergraduate junior and Master's-level students working towards a degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Cognitive Science, Artificial Intelligence, Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Biostatistics, or a related field. **Candidates must have an expected graduation date after August 2025.
- Experience in reading and processing large data sets using modern database languages with experience using documented Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) is required
- Proficiency in Python Modeling, experience with generative AI & LLM project management, knowledge of RAG Modeling and Architecture, and prompt engineering are a plus
- Relevant coursework and/or experience in Databases, Algorithms, Artificial Intelligence, and Web Applications are a plus
- Enthusiasm for collaboration, cross-functional projects, public speaking, and presentation design.
- US Work Authorization is required at time of application.
- This role will not be providing CPT/OPT support.
- Ability to report onsite to Durham, NC 3-5 days a week. This role will not provide relocation assistance.
