Senior Manager, Accounting

Be a proactive self-starter within AstraZeneca’s Rare Disease Unit (Alexion) Controllership team based in Dublin. Review key aspects of the IFRS monthly and quarterly close process for Alexion EMEA & APAC entities, with specific focus on technical and judgemental items. Build and maintain positive relationships with internal and external collaborators to ensure strong collaboration. Actively contribute to the Ireland Controllership management team.

Accountabilities

- Ownership of record-to-report month end and quarter end review procedures for specified areas of EMEA & APAC entities.
- Drive collaborator engagement with local Market Finance entities within remit.
- Strong collaboration with GFS Ireland to ensure appropriate information sharing and deliverables achieved on time.
- Oversight of EMEA & APAC revenue including interpretation of new/updated revenue agreements; review of related internal documentation.
- Review of quarterly fluxes for select EMEA/APAC entities covering leading markets.
- Summarise key accounting issues and review aggregated EMEA/APAC results on a monthly and quarterly basis, including approval of entity results.
- Lead technical guidance and oversight of judgemental accounting areas for entities within scope to ensure appropriate accounting in line with IFRS.
- Operate within the required SOX controls framework and review relevant control procedures within scope on a timely basis; ensure control narratives are maintained up to date.
- Review of high-risk balance sheet account reconciliations for EMEA/APAC entities and supervise reconciling items for timely resolution.
- Liaison with Group Financial Reporting, global RDU Controllers, Legal and Tax teams as required.
- Act as solutions lead to support efficient and effective resolution of ad hoc issues for areas within scope.
- Lead on month end accounting integration of newly acquired entities.
- Support Group and Internal audit efforts.
- Support broader team activity including review of specific tasks and controls related to Alexion Ireland (principal entity), including inventory/COGS related items.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to implement system and/or process enhancements for the month-end closing cycle, embracing digital automation and AI.
- Participate in various finance related projects as required.

Essential Skills/Experience

- Accounting qualification (ACA/ACCA/CIMA etc.)
- Minimum 6 years’ industry/post qualification experience
- High level of Microsoft Office Excel proficiency
- Solid understanding of IFRS principles
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
- Shown analytical and problem-solving skills

Desirable Skills/Experience

- A highly motivated, proactive and approachable individual
- Organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining high performance standards
- Multinational pharmaceutical experience, including revenue recognition experience
