Do you have a passion for digital manufacturing and driving operational excellence?
At AstraZeneca, we are reimagining how medicines are made. Our Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) play a central role in our digital strategy, allowing us to replace paper‑based processes with modern, data‑driven solutions that enable safer, faster and more reliable production.
We’re looking for a MES Specialist (Syncade) to join our Manufacturing team in Macclesfield. This is an opportunity to apply your technical, analytical and project skills to real‑world manufacturing challenges while supporting the delivery of life‑changing medicines.
What you’ll do:
As an MES Specialist, you’ll support the delivery, optimisation and ongoing performance of the Syncade MES platform across a key production area. Working closely with cross‑functional colleagues, you will ensure technical issues are resolved quickly, standard processes are shared, and project activities are completed on time.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Troubleshooting and resolving first‑line technical MES issues
- Providing mentorship and encouragement to manufacturing teams and internal collaborators
- Contributing to the planning and delivery of Syncade project workstreams
- Analysing data and drafting documentation for cases, improvement activities and investigations
- Supporting change management activities during deployments and hypercare
- Ensuring compliance with HSE, GMP and internal quality expectations
- Sharing knowledge, promoting guidelines and helping to embed digital ways of working
- Coordinating activities and resources across teams, ensuring procedures are followed
Success in this role (first 6–12 months):
You’ll be fully embedded within the team, supporting key project deliverables, helping manage hypercare periods and positively contributing to continuous improvements across manufacturing systems.
Essential skills & experience:
- Experience with Syncade or similar MES platforms
- Experience working within an environment committed to specific goals and deadlines
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills
- Ability to work to deadlines and manage multiple priorities
- Confidence in collaborating with cross-functional partners
Desirable skills:
- Bachelor’s degree (or working towards a professional qualification)
- Background in biotech, cell culture, chromatography or similar scientific manufacturing
- Understanding of GMP and regulated environments
- Exposure to people leadership or coordination responsibilities
Why AstraZeneca?
At AstraZeneca, you’ll be part of a global organisation driven by science and innovation. You’ll join a high‑performing digital manufacturing team with a strong development culture — including several recent internal promotions. The role offers multiple progression pathways across MES, Operations and broader Manufacturing.
