Introduction to role

The Senior Portfolio Manager is responsible for supporting the standardisation, execution, and optimisation of portfolio-related processes supporting Global IT, and for supporting all users of the ServiceNow SPM tool. The role will apply portfolio management knowledge to contribute to the evolution of portfolio management practices, standards, and tools. 

The successful candidate will contribute to the delivery and adoption of portfolio practice improvements and automation opportunities, identify and execute key centralised processes, and support SPQ Portfolio Managers in effective portfolio management across the IT organisation.

The role sits within the Portfolio group of IT's Strategy, Performance & Quality (SPQ) function. The SPQ Portfolio Team is tasked with driving best practices in Portfolio Management, ownership of IT Portfolio management tooling, the optimization of portfolio processes, and ensuring strategic alignment of IT project portfolio investments. Accountabilities

- Manage or support the execution of centralized and standard portfolio processes
- Manage the execution of monthly ServiceNow actuals load from SAP in coordination with Portfolio Managers
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance portfolio processes
- Identify and implement opportunities for automation of portfolio processes
- Support the definition and implementation of changes to portfolio management and other related processes in all stakeholder communities
- Support changes in use and configuration of ServiceNow SPM through requirements definition and testing
- Provide ServiceNow SPM support for SPQ Portfolio Managers
- Support ServiceNow SPM stakeholder engagement and communications
- Analyse portfolio-related data (e.g., Financial, Resource, Portfolio Health etc.)
- Support change management activities for portfolio improvement initiatives
- Create and manage Knowledge Base for ServiceNow SPM
- Work collaboratively with SPQ Portfolio Managers to identify opportunities for improvement and to understand requirements for support where necessary
- Assist SPQ Portfolio Excellence team in defining requirements for tool changes, and understanding dependencies between portfolio tools and practices
- Collaborate with related functions that support Portfolio Management practices (e.g., Finance, SPQ Business Agility)

Essential Skills/Experience

- Relevant technical degree or equivalent
- 3+ years’ experience with Project / Portfolio management / PMO activities
- Understanding of Project financial management fundamentals
- Knowledge and experience with portfolio management processes and tools
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with strong customer focus and attention to detail
- Self-starter with the ability to effectively multi-task, prioritize workload to meet deadlines
- Continuous improvement mindset
- Influencing and relationship-building skills with AZ customers, peers, and third-party suppliers at all levels
- Strong analysis and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work in diverse multinational teams
- Knowledge or experience of automation approach and/or tools

Desirable Skills/Experience

- ServiceNow experience, SPM ideal
- Demonstrated knowledge of additional business management areas such as financials, workforce management, and strategy
- Knowledge of Lean design processes and their application
- Strong data analytics capabilities
- PowerBI skills
- Experience with process mapping tools and techniques
