Introduction to role:
Are you ready to take on a role that will empower you to lead and take on more ownership? We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Data & Analytics Engineer to join our offshore team in the Knowledge Graph Service. As a Senior Data & Analytics Engineer, you will play a critical role in supporting projects and initiatives across different domains within AstraZeneca. Your primary responsibility will be to lead and oversee the data ingestion, clean-up, and enrichment part of the pipeline for projects that require it. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in data engineering and analytics, as well as hands-on experience with AWS DevOps tools and technologies.

Accountabilities:
In this role, you will work together with other project teams, across various domains, to understand their data requirements and provide expertise in the data ingestion and enrichment process. You will design, develop, and maintain scalable and robust data pipelines and ETL workflows for the Knowledge Graph Team. You will implement advanced data engineering techniques and best practices to ensure optimal performance and reliability of data systems. You will work closely with data scientists and analysts to ensure high-quality and accurate data for knowledge graph construction and advanced analytics. You will troubleshoot and resolve complex issues related to data pipelines, ensuring smooth and efficient data flow.

Essential Skills/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree, or master’s degree, in computer science, engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a Data and Analytics Engineer.
- Proficiency in data engineering tools and technologies, such as Python, SQL, Spark, Hadoop, and ETL frameworks.
- Solid understanding of computer science fundamentals, including algorithms, data structures, and distributed computing.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills, with a keen attention to detail.
- Experience with advanced Data Quality Management techniques, including data profiling, cleansing, and validation.
- Familiarity with Data Pipelines Orchestration using tools such as Apache Airflow, Luigi, or AWS Step Functions.

Desirable Skills/Experience:
- Experience in a senior or leadership role, guiding and mentoring junior data and analytics engineers.
- In-depth knowledge of advanced analytics techniques and data visualisation tools.
- Familiarity with Object Graph Mapping libraries and/or Aspect-Oriented Programming.
- Expertise in data engineering using modern data platforms to build, deploy, and maintain data applications.
- Proficiency in application deployment technologies (e.g., containerised workflows, Kubernetes) and cloud provisioning tools (e.g., CloudFormation, Terraform). Knowledge of AWS would be advantageous.
