Accountabilities

The Ops Enablement function within the Workplace & Enterprise Services function is accountable for:

  • The AZ Observability strategy, delivering Enterprise Management, Monitoring & Security Tooling and the definition and execution of an AIOps capability unlocking significant business benefit through a transformation in how Infrastructure Platforms and the Applications that are run on them are maintained.

  • The core ServiceNow Platform, supporting a federated development model and unlocking significant value to the broader organization.

  • Building and running a capability to enable colleagues to exploit our services focused on driving business value beyond availability and currency, supporting the Business aligned Technology Groups (BTG) groups through the creation of Centers for Enablement.

The Management Tooling Services lead role is accountable for the strategy, consolidation, simplification, and delivery of the tools employed across AstraZeneca to manage and supervise the End User Technology & Infrastructure landscape. With a focus on Observability and end-to-end business outcomes, transforming the way that our technology platforms are maintained, this role will work closely with the Security Tooling Services Lead, the Data & Insights Lead, Integrations Lead, and Visualizations Leads to drive an AIOps strategy passionate about proactive, pre-emptive management and monitoring, radically improving User Experience, eradicating end-user generated incidents across AstraZeneca’s Application Portfolio and driving uptime and availability across all platforms.

The Management Tooling Services Lead Role has:

  • Ownership and accountability for the Management and Monitoring Tooling service, including budget, contracts, service management, and operational excellence.

  • Govern the upgrades and compatibility of the Management and Monitoring Tooling services to ensure seamless upgrades to the business and new functionality and capabilities are introduced effectively.

  • Simplify and standardize the environment so our technology is current and delivers a great customer experience.

  • Engage with key Stakeholders and Customers to ensure these technologies meet customer needs.

  • Deliver service improvements to these technologies to ensure they are simple and effective to use.

  • Handle our technology partners effectively to ensure AZ is on the forefront of technology innovation, both benefiting from and crafting our partners' roadmaps.

  • Lead and continuously develop a deep technical team building a function that drives differentiation in how we leverage, integrate, and embrace technology and leverages tooling technology to drive automation.

  • Accountable for Risk and Compliance across the services.

  • Responsible for the definition of successful reasons, interlocking investment to drive technology transformation.

  • Be a key member of the Workplace and Enterprise Services – Ops Enablement Leadership Team to ensure that the team continues to develop and grow and that strategies are aligned and executed effectively.

  • Reports to the Workplace & Enterprise Services – Ops Enablement Director.

Essential Skills/Experience

  • Significant IT experience in Leading Global Services

  • Must have experience in handling and delivering Enterprise Management and Monitoring Tooling capabilities with a solid technical understanding in this area, underpinning a strong service and customer experience focus.

  • Must have managed large upgrades and implementations of technology solutions in a global company.

  • Must have managed budgets

  • Must have experience of taking care of Internal Audit, Risk, and Compliance.

Skills and Capabilities

  • Strong technical understanding of Enterprise Management and Monitoring Tooling

  • Strong Team member Management

  • Strong Supplier and Vendor Management

  • Good technical understanding and naturally driven to leverage technology to digitize and optimize our business appropriately

  • Experience of developing and improving global Services across international sites and a dispersed team

  • Familiarity with working in an international, multi-time zone support environment.

  • Strong People, Team Leadership, and Management skills, with demonstrable evidence of crafting high-performing teams and delivering operational excellence.

  • Natural ability to continually challenge and lead change in pursuit of excellent customer service.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Operationally and politically astute and tenacious, being able to cut through issues to deliver excellent customer service.

Desirable Skills/Experience

  • Experience working in the Biopharmaceutical/Life Sciences industry

  • SDLC, Agile & Scrum methodologies

  • Handling large global teams

  • Experience working in different countries/cultures

  • Confidence addressing large internal and external audiences

  • Awareness of technical landscape and technologies such as Tanium, SolarWinds, Netbrain, Netbox, and batch schedulers

  • Experience in running tooling in an environment where IT Observability is mature
