Finance Senior Business Analyst

Supports business functions by providing financial guidance to ensure that all stakeholders (internal and external) receive the financial information they require to drive the business performance, maintaining Group policy, and manage associated risks.

Provide support to Strategic Service Partners to resolve complex queries and issues. This will involve sharing technical and/or process expertise, facilitating relationships between any or all the above parties, as well as various financial analysis, e.g.: sales, pricing, investment allocation, costing, tax, market data, and project work as well as support to the annual business update cycle and monthly reporting.

Typical Accountabilities

  • Acts as a finance specialist in a single technical area providing specialist advice or heading-up project delivery in this area. Such as:
    • Oversight of cash, accounts payable, accounts receivable, tax, corporate governance, month end close and financial reporting.
  • Works with management to understand business priorities and tailor Finance support to local requirements.
  • Regularly reviews finance policies and processes, identifying areas for enhancement and making recommendations for change.
  • Manages delivery of finance services within the departmental budget
    • Coordination and management of the annual (ABU) and quarterly budgeting (RBU) process for the site by business partnering with department/functional leaders, preparing required templates for data collection, analysis, and summarization of results to management.
    • Oversight of the development of the annual product costing (FMC) process by liaising with key business leaders and GFS Costa Rica in ensuring alignment between operational assumptions and product cost preparation.
  • Maintain and prepare Site Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) reports and provide commentary on performance and present results to Process Execution Teams and Site leaders.
  • Act as Finance lead on cross-functional project teams providing financial support, analysis, and expertise to aid in the decision-making process.
  • Prepare financial models and analysis to support business partners in performing objective financial analyses which enhance resource allocation/investment decision making, including capital, IS initiatives, and process improvement activities.
  • Ensures compliance with local laws, policies and procedures.

Tax Planning

  • Supports Finance Director in developing the tax strategy with respect to the tax grant. Liaise with external parties on behalf of the business. Execute application of area expertise to deliver day to day operational activities related to income tax, withholding tax, excise tax, volume of business tax, property tax, sales and use tax.
  • Support Finance Director with Tax Paper, which includes tax forecast, tax legislation updates and long-range tax strategy. Also supports the Finance Paper with financial long-term projections.
  • Supports the analysis for dividend distributions.
  • Supports transfer pricing studies conducted by AstraZeneca Global Tax, as required. Coordinates pricing changes, as required.

Tax Compliance

  • Oversees third party provider in the timely and accurate preparation of tax returns.
  • Coordinates timely payment of taxes, avoiding penalties and interest.
  • Monitors tax grant and tax agreements compliance and reports to iPR management.
  • Manages and oversees iPR position during audits. Coordinates response to information requests during audits.

Tax Accounting:

  • Performs financial accounting for taxes consistent with relevant accounting standards and in coordination with Global Tax Reporting.
  • Liaises with external financial auditors, as required.  

Other

  • Business Champion and/or facilitate the relationship with third party vendors and GFS/GBS.
  • Close working relationship with other AZ counterparts to harmonize ways of working and exploit best practice
  • Participates in special projects, as assigned.

Education, Qualifications, Skills and Experience

Essential

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Minimum 8 years of accounting/finance experience of which 5 years are in a manufacturing environment
  • Advanced understanding of accounting principles required
  • In depth knowledge of GAAP, tax accounting (Puerto Rico’s tax code desired)
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to analyze complex issues and develop recommendations
  • Strong communication, presentation, organizational planning and business partnering skills required
  • Demonstrated ability to manage outsourced service provider performance.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects at once.

Computer Skills

  • Proficiency in advanced Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint) and MS Teams functionality
  • Advanced knowledge of SAP, with previous experience with SAP product costing preferred.

Language

  • Fluent in English and Spanish, both verbal and written. Able to read, analyze, and interpret technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Able to respond to inquiries or complaints. Able to write reports or business correspondence. Able to effectively present information and respond to questions.

Licenses and registrations

  • CPA (desirable)
