Senior Scientist, (In vivo) Oncology R&D
Are you ready to take a crucial inter-disciplinary approach to save patients' lives? We are looking for a Senior Scientist to join our Oncology R&D team. In this role, you will work collaboratively within the in vivo team across the oncology portfolio, applying your scientific and technical expertise to a number of project teams delivering efficacy and pharmacodynamic studies to aid drug discovery and development. This partly lab-based role includes working approximately 1:5 weekends to include 4 hours Saturday and 4 hours Sunday; in return you will receive time off during the week and a shift allowance.

SITE DESCRIPTION
The role is based in our new groundbreaking Discovery Centre (DISC) located on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus. This newly purpose-built building that will bring together the company’s research and development activity in a pioneering strategic R&D centre and global corporate headquarters. The building has been designed with the open architecture reflecting AstraZeneca’s approach to research. Open laboratories and glass walls will enable new ways of working across teams, whilst a central courtyard will put science on full display.
What you’ll do
You will be responsible for designing, planning and executing in vivo studies, analysing and communicating complex scientific data. Your ability to prioritise your own workload whilst working as part of cross-functional, multidisciplinary project teams will be key. This partly lab-based role includes working approximately 1:5 weekends to include 4 hours Saturday and 4 hours Sunday; in return you will receive time off during the week and a shift allowance.
Essential Skills/Experience
- A Ph.D. in oncology or related field or equivalent industry experience
- Ability to critically analyse and communicate in vivo scientific data
- Expert in vivo skills that can be applied to oncology drug discovery
- Home Office personal licence holder experience
- High ethical standards and a keen eye for animal welfare
- Experience in carrying out independent, relevant scientific research, ideally evidenced by publication of scientific abstracts, posters or peer-reviewed papers
Desirable Skills/Experience
- Industry experience
- Understanding of PK/PD relationships
- Experience working with external partners/collaborators
- Experience of ex vivo endpoints
