Associate Director, Digital Health Program Management
Introduction to role
The Associate Director, Digital Health Program Management is accountable for the planning and implementation of digital health initiatives in the assigned therapeutic areas. The incumbent will be responsible for collaborating with Global and Regional Medical Affairs Medical Directors to develop and lead digital health initiatives that address unmet medical and scientific needs. Digital health projects may include patient and HCP-directed apps; automated collection of electronic outcome measures; health data analytics; and related technological approaches to addressing unmet medical needs in rare disease patient and HCP communities. Projects frequently include a clinical study, and in these cases, the Associate Director is responsible for study management and oversight. The Associate Director will independently lead cross-functional teams associated with their digital health initiatives, ensuring that staff in medical affairs, information technology, and other functions are aligned. They will be responsible for vendor selection and contracting as well as vendor partnership and oversight, and will provide regular reports to senior management on the status and progress of their programs.
Accountabilities/Responsibilities:
- Identifying opportunities for innovation where digital health technologies might play a role, and bringing them forward to the organization
- Leading engagements with medical affairs stakeholders, providing expert input on digital health subject matter
- Preparing estimates for cost and duration of a given proposed digital health project
- Conducting proposed projects through required governance processes
- Identifying candidate digital health and clinical research vendors, and coordinating vendor selection and contracting processes
- Leading project execution and taking accountability for vendor performance
- Preparing regular project status reports with performance metrics
- Proactively identifying risks and proposing mitigation strategies
Essential Skills/Experience:
- MD, PhD, or PharmD degree
- 5+ years of research program management experience in a life science or healthcare setting
- Digital / software technology program management experience including at least one digital health program
- Demonstrated track record in cross-functional team leadership
- Familiarity with clinical research study designs, Good Clinical Practice (GCP) principles, and data analysis techniques for clinical trials
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and ability to balance different perspectives on program priorities.
