In this role, you will build how we protect the business, enable compliant growth, and ensure that innovative science reaches patients responsibly and at pace.

As Legal & Compliance Counsel at AstraZeneca, you will sit where innovation meets focused execution. You will advise leaders and teams on the choices that matter most, helping to handle risk, structure strategic partnerships, and uphold principled integrity across a highly regulated landscape. Can you see yourself turning regulatory complexity into clear, pragmatic guidance that unlocks opportunity for patients and the business?

You will excel in a fast-moving environment where urgency, judgment, and transparency are critical. By anticipating regulatory shifts and designing scalable frameworks, you will strengthen how we work every day—so science and care can reach more patients, faster and safely.

Accountabilities:

  • Provide proactive counsel across data privacy, employment, real estate, social media, ethics, and other general legal matters, keeping operations aligned with evolving laws and standards.
  • Supervise statutory obligations, identify control gaps, and drive corrective actions; brief leadership on emerging developments and translate risk into clear business implications.
  • Supervise legal disputes with effective reporting, critical issue, and resolution support that protects enterprise value and key relationships.
  • Partner with Procurement and Business teams to draft, review, negotiate, and complete commercial agreements; enhance templates and reporting to improve consistency, control, and decision quality.
  • Develop policies and legal documentation that strengthen operational governance and compliance frameworks, enabling efficient and scalable growth.
  • Design and implement a comprehensive compliance program aligned with regional and global standards; deliver policies, processes, training, and support that embed compliant behaviors across teams.
  • Serve as the primary contact on compliance matters, supporting day-to-day decision-making; facilitate investigations and audits, and drive timely remediation of identified gaps.
  • Lead board and general meeting processes and ensure full compliance with corporate secretarial obligations; partner with leadership to enhance risk governance and advise strategic choices.
  • Supervise legal budgets and spend, support audit requirements, provide timely management reporting, and ensure secure maintenance of legal records.

Essential Skills/Experience:

  • 3-5 years’ experience in a multicultural company
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to handle and prioritize time sensitive tasks in a high-paced environment
  • Good teammate with ability to operate independently and collaboratively
  • Ability to build trusted working relationships with stakeholders
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
  • High level of integrity, professionalism and attention to detail
  • Bachelor’s degree in law from a reputed university

Desirable Skills/Experience:

  • Qualified Company Secretary
  • Experience in pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, or other highly regulated industries
  • Proven expertise in data privacy, anti-bribery/anti-corruption, and competition law frameworks
  • Familiarity with contract lifecycle management tools and legal operations reporting
  • Prior experience supporting board governance and enterprise risk management

When we put unexpected teams in the same room, we unleash bold thinking with the power to inspire life-changing medicines. In-person working gives us the platform we need to connect, work at pace and challenge perceptions. That's why we work, on average, a minimum of three days per week from the office. But that doesn't mean we're not flexible. We balance the expectation of being in the office while respecting individual flexibility. Join us in our unique and ambitious world.

Here, legal professionals help turn brand new science into important outcomes for people with urgent, unmet needs. You will experience the energy and autonomy of a biotech environment with the reach and resources of a global organization. We bring unexpected teams together to unlock bold thinking, value courtesy alongside ambition, and balance in-person collaboration with flexibility, so we can move fast and challenge assumptions. Your counsel will directly shape how we partner, scale, and deliver for patients, while you grow alongside leaders who invest in your development and trust you with work that matters.

If you are ready to combine sharp legal judgment with tangible impact, step into this role today and help build the legal foundations that let innovation reach patients faster.
