Data Engineering Specialist, Operational Data Strategy

Join our dedicated team in the Operational Data Strategy function within Clinical Data and Insights, a part of R&D Biopharmaceutical Clinical Operations. We are seeking a Data Engineering Specialist who is passionate about data engineering, has a strong technical foundation, and is eager to learn and grow within the operational data strategy domain. Reporting to the Senior Director, Operational Data Strategy, this role will contribute to the development and maintenance of data pipelines, data preparation, and data integration processes.

Accountabilities:
As a Data Engineering Specialist, you will support the development and maintenance of data pipelines, data preparation, conformance, and data integration processes to meet operational data strategy objectives. You will collaborate with senior data engineers and stakeholders to understand technical requirements and assist in translating them into effective data engineering solutions. You will also contribute to the documentation and maintenance of technical requirements, data models, and data engineering standards within the Operational Data Strategy team. Working closely with cross-functional teams, you will ensure seamless integration of data engineering solutions and support ongoing operational requirements.

Essential Skills/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field
- Strong technical acumen, with a foundational understanding of data engineering principles, ETL processes, and data modeling concepts
- Proficient in using DevOps tools and concepts, including version control with Git, and implementing Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines to automate and streamline development workflows
- Proficiency in at least one programming language such as Python, Java
- Basic knowledge of SQL, data querying, and data manipulation
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills

Desirable:
- Familiarity with data engineering tools and technologies
- Interest in data visualization tools and techniques for communicating data engineering insights effectively
