We currently have opportunities in our Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics (DMPK) group, working for AstraZeneca’s Early Oncology Unit. We are based in Cambridge UK, Gaithersburg, US, and Boston US, and are looking for talented, experienced scientists to join our team, at the Boston site.
We are seeking a talented and highly motivated individual to join the Bioanalytical group at AstraZeneca R&D Boston. The group's mission is to provide bioanalytical input and support for the analysis of in vivo PK, PD, and in vivo samples across the global Early Oncology portfolio. Your primary role in this position is to develop bioanalytical methods, analyze biological samples using quantitative LC-MS/MS assays, and perform non-compartmental PK analysis (NCA). You will also be expected to perform a limited set of in vitro DMPK assays. You will also be part of the Early Oncology DMPK group and will interact with global and local DMPK groups and project team members. The role will require interactive, effective communication to provide clear data and guidance to DMPK project representatives, act as an example to other scientists, and contribute to DMPK scientific strategy.
The successful candidate will have a BS or MS degree in a relevant discipline with 5+ years of experience in industry or in a core bioanalytical lab. A solid foundation in bioanalytical chemistry with demonstrated expertise in LC-MS/MS techniques is critical. This position requires a proven track record of experience in the daily operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of mass spectrometers and LC equipment. Additionally, knowledge and application of liquid handling and automation is highly desirable. The candidate will have excellent problem solving, organizational and documentation skills, and strong oral and written communication skills. This role requires the ability to thrive in a highly collaborative team-based, multidisciplinary, fast-paced research environment. The candidate will have experience in one or more of the following skills and competencies: use of Applied Biosystems Sciex triple quadrupole mass spectrometers; familiarity with laboratory automation/liquid handling equipment; experience evaluating and implementing new bioanalytical technologies or techniques; instrument/method troubleshooting; a solid understanding of pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics; and knowledge of the conduct and interpretation of a variety of in vitro DMPK assays.
