What you’ll do

We are currently looking for a Medical Affairs Manager Vaccine to join our medical team, to continue and build on the team’s success. This role will be reporting directly to Head of Medical Affairs Department.


  • To lead the Medical input to business strategic and operational planning for defined therapy area and/or defined brands, including development of Brand Medical plans

  • To lead delivery of clinical insight, customer focus and clinical governance into commercial / public health-related objectives

  • To deliver TA/Brand objectives as outlined in the Respiratory & Immunology Brand Medical Plans

  • To develop and deliver pre-launch and peri-launch medical plans and activities

  • Act to ensure GCP requirements are fully complied with and in line with the local Quality Management System (QMS) SOP and all other AZ policies and Standards

Accountabilities will includes:

  • Develop and maintain scientific relationships with key customers to build customer insight and develop strategic partnerships

  • Develop and leverage medical insight from internal and external customers into Medical, Brand and Account Plans

  • Provide expert medical input into key Government Affairs and  Market Access activities

  • Co-ordinate the development and execution of Medical Brand Plans, with identified and agreed KPIs, to support Brand objectives

  • Leverage medical insight from internal and external customers into local evidence generation plans to support the development of Brand value propositions for the market

  • Ensure Medical approval of all strategic promotional and non-promotional materials (including, but not exclusively sales, media materials, governmental and other materials)

  • Ensure medical support for pharmacovigilance activities, including the development and execution of Risk Mitigation Activities for all Brands

Essential for the role

  • Medical doctor

  • Track record of leadership across the medico-marketing interface

  • Prior experience in a Medical Affairs role in vaccines/ infectious diseases or immunology – a minimum of 2 years for exceptional candidates is expected

  • Proven ability to interact with external customers

  • Evidence of effective team working and accountability

Desirable for the role

  • Qualified in the required product or disease area

  • Technical expertise in infectious diseases / vaccines/ immunology

  • Extensive experience of the pharmaceutical industry

  • Extensive patient and customer insight through experience in a health care setting
