Automation Engineer - Process Control - BPD

Process Control Engineer is responsible for integrating and lifecycle management of multiple automation systems for AZ Biopharmaceutical Development (BPD) facilities including development laboratories, toxicology manufacturing facilities and clinical manufacturing facilities.  

Responsibilities:

  • Subject Matter Expert (SME) for integration of multiple automation systems
  • Lifecycle management of assigned automation systems
  • Resolves automation issues 
  • Installs automation systems
  • Commissions new systems, executes validation protocols
  • Performs quality/safety investigations on automation systems 
  • Performs change control 
  • Directs outside equipment/service providers, Oversees the work of contractors 
  • Writes user requirements, specifications, test scripts, and recipes
  • Develops and maintains maintenance programs for systems
  • Instructs staff on operation of automation systems.
  • Improves reliability
  • Creates relatively simple project timelines

Minimum Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Computer Sciences and 1-2 years of experience 
  • GMP and GDP experience in a biotech or sterile pharmaceutical automation environment

  • Operating systems
  • Basic level OPC 
  • OSI PI
  • cGMP, Good Documentation Practices (GDP)
  • Good Automation Manufacturing Practices (GAMP)
  • Digital electronic displays and instrumentation
  • DH Network, Device Net, Wonder Ware, RSView, SCADA 
  • Basic PLC Programming and Configuration 
  • Quality Systems (Documentation, Preventive Maintenance, Change management, investigations, etc.) 
  • Commissioning
  • Training
