Global Medical Associate Director, Neurology

Introduction to role:

The Medical Affairs Associate Director Neurology will provide support for strategic planning and leadership in our neurology NMOSD portfolio. You will be responsible for providing strong scientific and medical support with an in-depth understanding of the NMOSD disease area and medical landscape. You will support the development and implementation of the short and long-term portfolio strategy, with effective cross-functional collaboration. Accountabilities/Responsibilities:

In collaboration with the Global NMOSD Medical lead, you will develop and implement global strategy and plan for MA activities by providing medical leadership, insight, strategy, and tactical plan (also responsible for the execution). You will be responsible for:

  • Developing medical strategy and tactical plan for the Global Medical Affairs team working closely and collaboratively with the Global NMOSD Medical lead and other cross-functional teams (e.g., GHEOR, commercial, market access, Scientific communication team, etc.)
  • Implementation and budget planning for NMOSD Global Medical Team initiatives.
  • Providing medical strategic recommendations for in-line life cycle management (LCM) and late phase pipeline programs.
  • Leading evidence generation projects.
  • Supporting Phase 3b/4 and Externally Sponsored Research evidence generation strategy for late phase pipeline and in-line TA programs.
  • Providing clear strategic guidance to scientific communication, internal medical training, external medical education (Symposia), Medical info.
  • Contributing medical perspective to commercial strategy as appropriate.
  • Serving as the medical expert and resource within ALXN in support of the therapeutic area.
  • Developing, conducting, or participating in therapeutic training programs for Alexion personnel.
  • Establishing and/or enhancing partnerships with key academic institutions, consortia, and societies and developing/enhacing relationships with key leaders.

Essential Skills/Experience:

  • Must have a MD, PhD, or Pharm D level degree or equivalent
  • 3+ years of experience in Medical Affairs function
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Experience/ability to work in a matrix cross-functional environment, both internally and remotely
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrated track record and ability to drive results as an effective team member and project leader
  • Proven ability to manage budget and resources
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing conditions!
  • Excellent problem solving, organizational, and negotiating skills
  • Must demonstrate an energy and passion which brings a positive approach to all challenges Sense of ethics and responsibility
  • The duties of this role are generally conducted in an office environment. As is typical of an office-based role, employees must be able, with or without an accommodation to: use a computer; engage in communications via phone, video, and electronic messaging; engage in problem solving and non-linear thought, analysis, and dialogue; collaborate with others; maintain general availability during standard business hours.

Desirable Skills/Experience:

  • Experience or knowledge of Scientific acumen in Neurology and rare diseases
  • Experience with management and leadership acquired in a multicultural environment involving diverse and remote teams is a plus
